Yolanda was a dream!

I'm really not kidding when I say that working with Yolanda was a dream! I've actually known this young lady for years, however, I had not seen her since she was maybe 6 years old. And when I saw her again after all that time, I couldn't believe that this gorgeous young lady was the same little girl who would greet me with a huge hug and a smile and hop up into my lap and stay there for hours while we "adults" visited and talked. Getting to spend some time with her now that she's a teenager, I find that not only does she still have the sweet disposition I remember, but a maturity that's rare in someone her age. A bonafide "young lady" if I've ever known one. I wanted to share some of her photos that didn't make it into her albums. Really enjoyed my day with her!

"The Music Man" - John Paul Smith

Finally! I've been wanting to capture some great photos of JP playing the guitar and I had the opportunity to do that on Sunday. He grabbed my husband's dirty old guitar and I grabbed my camera. John Paul (or as we call him "JP") has a passion for music that just seeps from every pore of his being. He gets completely lost in the music and forgets (usually) that we're listening and watching. I am often entranced by his hands when he is playing and, on Sunday often caught myself actually forgetting to take pictures because I was too busy asking myself: "How does he DO that?" I was fortunate enough to get a few photos of his actual face for a change...and even one where he is slightly smiling. (A smile that he protects like it's a national secret for reasons known only to he as the brooding musician. We may THINK we know...but we don't...) You, John Paul Smith are a one of a kind...and for all of those reasons that make you who you are...we love you.

The Captivating Camila!

Camila's sunset shoot was such a wonderful experience! Although she may have been a little shy at a first, there was no need to be because she's a natural in front of the camera! Camila looked radiant, confident and with her easy laugh I couldn't help but to have a "perma-grin" on my own face! Here are some of her shots that didn't make it into her album. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her...I still smile when I see her trying not to get knocked over by the waves!

Full Frame Fever

Full Frame Fever! Hi everyone! So yesterday I had the opportunity to do my first session with my brand new Nikon D600 full frame camera. I have to say...I LOVE IT! For anyone wanting to upgrade to a full frame model at a reasonable price...this is the camera for you! For me (the mechanically challenged!) it is a little intimidating at first...but then I saw the images I captured! I didn't do a traditional "portrait" shoot. Instead, I took my favorite two little 'uns out to the park and around the house and did mainly candid shots. I love the look, the colors, the clarity...everything! Of course I have much to learn with this camera, different lenses, etc. but I'm really looking forward to it!

I love the shot that I'm putting with this post. (Sorry for the messy house!) I love that my dog Toby is so sharp and that Derek in the background is blurred but you can still see his expression. Great camera, great kids, great day!
